Fifty Shades of Green I started on my journey this time with no preconceived notions, with no high expectations from any variable, adjustable, inflexible or rigid elements which may or could have come into play in my travel. The only exciting element as I took the flight on an extremely hot evening was the fact that my small game plan of getting everyone together had fallen into place. Autumn, with it’s falling leaves and champagne temperatures always uplifts moods. The innumerable shades of colors of the leaves on the trees, the bushes and the late flowers make up for a heady cocktail of emotions: tipsy, sloshed, happy and outright smashed. Up in the Sky and not wanting to come Back to Earth!!!

I look forward to my trips to different lands. For apart from breaking the monotony of my hectic routine, it offers me the solace and comfort of my fertile imagination & never tiring thoughts. My journey to the world’s forgotten city, once more held a mixed bag of emotions. The excitement of seeing my ready-to-fly-out-of-the-nest robin, start another year at the Uni was tossed up with a feeling of void, of empty evenings, of a locked house, of long distance Skype sessions and another wait for a break in between his study time-table. BUT I forced and coerced myself to think of how opportunities come without fanfares. If it hadn’t been for a UWA, Perth, I would not have had another trip to make, more things to explore, more people to meet, more reading to do, more shopping to do(!), more introspection to do – well, more of everything has also happened because of my robin venturing off to far-off lands. Out of the holiday hibernation!

One expects that a new year will come with a bang but it never really does. The clock quietly strikes twelve like always and starts ticking another round. However, we get all excited and do a countdown, sometimes even light up the skies with fireworks, get all excited. Yet first January always brings some amount of cheer and everything starts to look fresh and new again. So, with the holiday spirit, I had the new year lift my spirits as well. The routine and the living by the clock of the whole of last year got kind of forgotten as the new year wishes started to pour in and New Zealand helped as always.
